Our Story

Since joining cross-country, we’ve discovered that running is much more than a sport. What began as an after-school activity became a passion that shaped our lives, helping us build friendships, challenge ourselves, and find a lasting sense of community.

That experience led us to a simple question: if running is so rewarding, why doesn’t every child have the opportunity to participate?

For many families, the cost of shoes, apparel, race fees, transportation, and organized programs creates barriers to participation. As a result, many young people miss out on the confidence, connection, and healthy habits that running can provide.

At SevaRun, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to run. Our mission is to expand access to running across the San Antonio community by providing essential resources and support to young athletes while promoting perseverance, wellness, and lifelong fitness.

Hi, I’m Veeraj. I started running in sixth grade, and over the years I’ve learned that running is about far more than exercise—it’s about embracing a challenge. No matter how much you run, it never truly gets easier if you continue to push yourself. While running certainly improves physical health, its greatest impact is often on discipline, resilience, and mental well-being.

The commitment required to get out the door for a run every day of the summer builds the same discipline needed to tackle challenges in school, work, and life. And when life becomes overwhelming, a run can provide clarity, balance, and a chance to reset.

I wanted more people—especially children in our local community—to have the opportunity to experience those benefits. That idea became SevaRun. In early 2026, I reached out to Park, and together we began turning that vision into reality. Seeing how much SevaRun has grown in such a short time has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m excited for the impact we will continue to make in the years ahead.

Hi I’m Park. My path to loving running unfolded gradually, shaped by the world I grew up in. Both of my parents are marathon runners, and so is most of my extended family, so running was simply part of our culture. Growing up in Los Angeles, one of my earliest race memories is the Annual Santa Monica Christmas 5k, a holiday tradition I'd run/walk with close friends. I wasn't in love with the running itself back then, but the energy and community made it one of my favorite days of the year. I then moved to San Antonio in 2023 and joined the cross country team. It was there that I met Veeraj, and our friendship grew from a shared passion for the sport. Running taught me discipline that carries into everything else such as baseball, schoolwork, and how I approach challenges. It gave me a healthier lifestyle and, most importantly, a community of people who push each other to be better. Running will be with me for the rest of my life. Whenever I need it, it's there.
